Hospice Recognizes Birdhouseman's Contribution
The Patrick County Hospice presented Henry & Edna with this plaque, in thanks for their donation of a 'Gable of Seven Houses' birdhouse. The birdhouse raised over 1,200.00 for the Hospice.

What started as a Lark became a Family Business…

Henry Mickles needed a hobby. He chose birdhouses. Although his wife Edna suspected building birdhouses to be a short-lived interest, she agreed to lend her artistic abilities to Henry’s creations. From 1995 to 2000, the Mickleses sold their birdhouses at craft shows. Eventually, they began selling their birdhouses in the parking lot of what is today their store, Lover’s Leap Birdhouses.

Lovers Leap Birdhouses featured in the Roanoke Times
August 2006 -- The Roanoke Times did a story about Meadows of Dan and naturally had to stop in to see us at Lovers Leap. The full version is available at the Roanoke Times web site, but here is an excerpt of the article written by Jen McCaffery:
[...Farther along U.S. 58, after passing the “Best Little Hair House in Vesta,” I arrived at Lover’s Leap Bird Houses. Henry and Edna Mickles have been making birdhouses there for the past six years.
